Hello and welcome! I am Joseph Hurtado, author of the Kanban Ace Framework, and Open Kanban. Professionally I am an Enterprise Agile Coach certified as a SAFe SPC 4, a Kanban Ace Trainer and a Scrum CSM. Thanks for visiting my personal website.
I am passionate about the human and technical sides of software and product development, having led teams to deliver technology solutions, or Agile transformations across a variety of industries. My personal approach is to make work an enjoyable effort, and to deliver fantastic software while keeping the team’s morale high, and their health intact.
Here I stop to search for areté. Areté is a greek word – αρετη – that goes beyond excellence, it includes moral virtue together with greatness. I search for Areté on many technology areas such as Lean, Agile, Kanban, SAFe, Lean Startup, Product Management, and Programming; but also outside of technology in the fields of Design, Literature, Poetry, Music and Photography. I also ocassionally go off-topic and blog about worthwhile topics in Philosophy, Faith and even life lessons. In all I write I endeavor to make it a worthwhile read, and a valuable use of your time.
Moreover I do have a professional blog where I focus exclusively on Lean and Agile topics, with emphasis on Kanban Ace and Open Kanban, vist my Kanban Latte blog to see some articles over there.
On the subject of personal excellence, one that touches our soul there are two quotes that inspire me, one is from St. Paul as he wrote to the Phillipians, and the other is from Rebbe Nachman of Breslov a man of God:
“Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.” St. Paul
“If you are not a better person tomorrow than you are today, what need have you for a tomorrow?” – Rebbe Nachman
I am currently working on Scalable KAFE. KAFE stands for Kanban Ace for Effectiveness. This will be a very different scaling framework, one that can work well with others, and it will allow you to use the best from other frameworks inside a coherent whole that is lighter and less complex, that is why I call it SCALABLE it will fit your organization. Scalable KAFE key parts of the framework were written between 2014 to 2017. We announced it in detail in early 2018 here, however it’s my intention to turn it into a business novel, and eventually publish it.
This blog is my personal sounding board for ideas, and essays on technology, agility, Kanban, Art, Literature and Faith; therefore all opinions and articles I share here are strictly my own, and do not reflect the opinions of any employer or organization I may be working for.
If you would like to contact me to to start a conversation, talk about KAFE, or share your thoughts or ideas on any topic related with Innovation, Lean, Agile, Faith or any other area of Human Excellence (areté) I encourage you to write to me at: joseph at agilelion dot com; or via LinkedIn.
